NORMAN, Okla. -- Before the game, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops wondered how much of a factor the crowd at Owen Field could be.
After the first quarter, he shouldn't worry. His Sooners have jumped to a quick 7-0 lead after one quarter over Texas Tech.
Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables has cooked up a blitz-heavy scheme that has given Harrell fits in the first quarter. The Sooners notched two sacks -- on back-to-back plays late in the quarter -- and have kept Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell on his heels on nearly every pass attempt.
DeMarco Murray already has been a big force. He accounted for 48 rushing yards on OU's first drive, capping it with a 1-yard touchdown run.
The Sooners are driving for another score on a 42-yard play-action pass from Sam Bradford to Jermaine Gresham on a drag route. They have dominated play so far with a 150-50 edge in total yardage and are averaging 8.8 yards per snap.
It could get messy if the Sooners score quickly.
