I'm in midseason form, going a perfect 8-0 last week. Let's keep this train rolling.

Thursday

NC State 27, Cincinnati 24: I haven't picked against Cincinnati in a regular-season game since the beginning of last year. But I haven't been impressed with the Bearcats in their first two games, and now comes a road contest against a very unpredictable team. Ask Pitt how easy it is to win in Raleigh. Russell Wilson is usually really good at home, and he'll power the Wolfpack to a close victory.

Saturday

West Virginia 21, Maryland 17: This is my game of the week. Check my video post later Thursday afternoon for an explanation of this pick.

Connecticut 23, Temple 14: Did you know Temple has won 11 of its past 13 regular-season games? This won't be an easy game for UConn on the road. But the Owls needed overtime to beat Central Michigan 13-10 last week, and they had to come up with 18 fourth-quarter points to squeak by Villanova in the opener. I still think the Huskies are one of the Big East's best teams, and if so, they should be able to survive this.

Oregon State 31, Louisville 14: The Cardinals just don't have the athletes to keep up with the Rodgers brothers and the Beavers on their home turf.

Syracuse 30, Maine 7: Homecoming in the Carrier Dome is satisfying as the Orange beat up on the first of their two straight FCS opponents.

Last week: 8-0

Season record: 14-2 (87.5 percent)
