TCU quarterback Andy Dalton was selected the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, the league announced Tuesday. The Horned Frogs swept nearly all of the major awards, with linebacker Tank Carder being named Defensive Player of the Year and Jeremy Kerley being named Special Teams Player of the Year. In all, TCU had nine first-team selections, tying a league high. Dalton and teammate Wayne Daniels were the only unanimous selections.
San Diego State coach Brady Hoke was selected coach of the year over TCU coach Gary Patterson. No quibble here. Hoke did a great job turning around a team that went 4-8 last season to 8-4 this season and a bowl berth for the first time since 1998. Aztecs running back Ronnie Hillman was also selected the Freshman of the Year.
