Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee goofed, and he knows it, when he said teams like TCU and Boise State pad their schedules with the "Little Sisters of the Poor" while the mighty Big Ten plays a "murderer's row" every week.
After watching TCU beat fellow Big Ten team Wisconsin 21-19 in the Rose Bowl presented by Vizio on Saturday, The New York Times reached Gee on his cell phone for his reaction.
Here is what he told Pete Thamel:
"I’m going to New Orleans, and Antoine’s is a great restaurant. I think they serve crow, and I’ll be eating my portion of that. TCU played a great game, and they deserved to be recognized for that. Obviously, TCU is a great ball team.”
TCU coach Gary Patterson said after the win he had no message for Gee. "I make mistakes every day," Patterson said.
