There have been plenty of receivers on this list but only a few remain as we get into the top half of the rankings. This player turned in the best season of his career and emerged as the go-to player for one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He matured into the role, after going through some growing pains that nearly got him kicked off the team earlier in his career.
No. 14 Titus Young, WR, Boise State
Going into 2010, you knew the big plays would follow Young. After all, he had emerged as a speedy deep threat for Kellen Moore, with more than 1,000 yards receiving in 2009. He followed that season up with a career best in 2010. Young had 1,215 yards receiving on 71 catches, averaging a whopping 17.1 yards a catch. Seven of his nine touchdown catches were for 40 yards or more, tied with Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State for the most in the nation. It became clear that Young would be the deep threat for Moore. Going into the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas, Moore went to Young 20 times on throws of 30-plus yards, completing 12 passes for seven touchdowns. To others, Moore went 2-of-3 for one touchdown. Austin Pettis might have been the possession receiver, but Young was the explosive one capable of making the big play. Both Young and Pettis made the All-WAC first-team and are going to be sorely missed in 2011.
