Virginia Tech starts practice today and that means we can finally say everyone in the ACC is officially into spring ball (unless you're a Miami fan, which is done already). So let's start the links off in Blacksburg, Va., where coach Frank Beamer is facing some lofty expectations -- and a few questions.

The most unexpected development at NC State this spring? The improvement at defensive tackle. Former NC State players Torry and Terrence Holt paid a visit to Raleigh recently to speak to cancer survivors and their children. Their mother died of lymphoma in 1996.

Clemson's new defensive coordinator, Kevin Steele, is making more with the Tigers than he did at Alabama. Way to stay competitive with the SEC off the field. Time for the next step.

It's not easy to replace a Rhodes Scholar -- especially in the secondary, but FSU's Korey Mangum is giving it a shot.
