On Tuesday we looked at the ACC's most important nonconference games. The majority of those games can be found in Week 3 of the schedule, when the rest of the college football world will be watching to see how the ACC fares against some of its toughest nonconference competition. The good news for the league is that it will have home-field advantage for the four biggest games.

Will the ACC flop or flourish?

Here's a way-too-early take on the Week 3 scorecard:

Oklahoma at Florida State: There's a reason the Sooners are likely to be ranked the No. 1 team in the nation in many preseason polls: They're loaded. They've got an experienced offensive line, an elite receiver in Ryan Broyles, and with quarterback Landry Jones returning, the Sooners should have one of the best offenses in the country. Florida State's defense returns a lot of talent and experience, so it should be a better matchup than what fans saw last year, but are the Seminoles ready to be a national title contender with a first-year starting quarterback?

Pick: Oklahoma

Auburn at Clemson: This isn't the same Auburn team that won the national title. Cam Newton is gone. Nick Fairley is gone. The offensive line has to be rebuilt. Overall, Auburn lost 18 starters. And Clemson's overtime loss at Auburn last year is still stinging. Even with a new quarterback and a new offense, this should be a winnable game for Clemson. Home-field advantage will help and both teams should lean on its running game. Which team will have the better run defense?

Pick: Clemson

West Virginia at Maryland: Is West Virginia still a contender in the Big East after its messy coaching transition? Big East blogger Andrea Adelson says yes. The Mountaineers will have a dynamic offense that will test a Maryland defense that had to replace two of its top defenders in linebackers Alex Wujciak and Adrian Moten. The Terps don't have to replace as much as West Virginia, though, on defense. The Mountaineers lost three of their top four leading tacklers and return only four starters -- good news for Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien. Both programs went through a coaching transition. Which new head coach will come out on top?

Pick: Maryland

Ohio State at Miami: The Buckeyes have since imploded and this game won't carry as much weight without former coach Jim Tressel or former quarterback Terrelle Pryor. There's enough talent remaining on the roster that Ohio State could put together a respectable season, but there are still too many suspensions and distractions for the Buckeyes to be at their best when they visit Miami. The Canes, however, are strong up front and are looking to make a statement in Al Golden's first season. They can do that if they don't turn the ball over four times.

Pick: Miami
