Holtz tries hand at acting

Colleague Mark Schlabach writes today about the real-life coaches on the set of the new movie "The Blind Side."

One of the coaches-turned-actors was former Notre Dame coach and current ESPN commentator Lou Holtz. He's never exactly been camera shy.

"I told them I'm not a cameo actor," Holtz joked. "I'm a supporting actor at worst. I can't believe they didn't give me a starring role."

Can a superhero franchise -- perhaps The Adventures of Dr. Lou -- be far behind?

Other coaches in the movie include Alabama's Nick Saban, Tennessee assistant Ed Orgeron and former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville.
