The Fighting Irish got another notch in the win column, but their star player may have fallen in Heisman potential. My inbox and chats were flooded last week from those of you wondering why Michael Floyd wasn't getting more Heisman attention. I simply said his team needs to win more games.
It may take more than that after Floyd's lowest statistical output in three years, but the season is still young.
Michael Floyd: After catching just four passes for 27 yards Saturday at Pitt, the senior fell from second to 13th nationally in receiving yards and from second to sixth in receptions. More performances like those of his first three games, along with more Notre Dame wins, could mask Week 4 and make Floyd a legitimate Heisman candidate if the Irish find themselves in the BCS conversation toward the end of the season.
