It looked bad when it happened. The results are as bad as we thought.

Texas Tech running back Eric Stephens will miss the season after dislocating his knee in Saturday's game against Texas A&M.

Stephens twisted and fell backward with his leg pinned after Aggies linebacker Damontre Moore hit him low.

The university made the announcement after reviewing results of his MRI. No surgery has been scheduled, but Stephens had 585 yards so far this season, second in the Big 12 behind Missouri's Henry Josey.

The junior is expected to return for his senior season.
