ECU's Williams practices, Whitley nurses injury
Both of ECU's suspended running backs reported to camp this week, but only one practiced today.
Jonathan Williams, who was suspended in October and missed spring camp because of an arrest stemming from resisting arrest and assault with a deadly weapon, was practicing with the team Friday afternoon.
Norman Whitley, who also missed spring football, did report on Thursday, but is not on the official roster because of a hip injury.
Per NCAA rules, Whitley is allowed to be with the team to rehabilitate the injury, but he is not a member of the 105-man roster and cannot participate in any team functions. The only way he's allowed back on the team is if he joins after camp has concluded or if someone off the 105-man roster leaves or is indefinitely injured, freeing up a spot.
ECU coach Skip Holtz will address the future of both Williams and Whitley during his preseason press conference Saturday.
