BOISE, Idaho -- The Chip Kelly era is off to an inauspicious start.
There is absolutely no continuity on offense or defense for Oregon. In all fairness to the Oregon defense, it has been on the field for 24 minutes and 10 seconds.
Oregon’s offense has been atrocious. It’s held the ball for just over 5 minutes and in that time it’s run 16 plays for 14 yards of total offense. It has more dropped passes than first downs (no first downs if you’re scoring at home), and the 2009 Ducks don’t look anything like the offense that was one of the best in the country last season.
Here’s a fun fact: The Ducks' lowest offensive output last season was 239 yards in a 44-10 loss to USC. But even that game opened with a 70-yard touchdown drive for the Ducks. Looks like Boise State might top the Trojans.
