Jenkins got hurt Saturday against Murray State when a teammate stepped on his foot. After the game, coach Jimbo Fisher said X-rays on the foot were negative, but Jenkins underwent an MRI Monday, which apparently revealed other damage. CBSSports.com was the first to report that Jenkins was done for the season.
Though Florida State has talent and depth at defensive end, this is still a huge loss for what many expected to be one of the best defenses in the nation. Jenkins was a preseason All-ACC selection and on the watch lists for the Bednarik, Camp and Nagurski awards. He has led the team in sacks each of the past two seasons.
The Noles still have Bjoern Werner, who had four sacks Saturday. But still, Jenkins leaves big shoes to fill.
Florida State star defensive end Brandon Jenkins is out for the season with a left foot injury, a source confirmed to David Hale of NoleNation late Monday night.
