Rutgers and Louisville have a chance to become bowl eligible with wins this weekend. Those teams and Cincinnati are virtual locks to go bowling. How about the rest of the league?

That is where this get dicey. Here is a quick look at where the remaining five teams stand.

Team: Temple (2-2)

Wins needed to go bowling: four.

Games remaining: at UConn, Rutgers, at Pitt, at Louisville, Cincinnati, at Army, Syracuse.

Projected path: There are winnable games remaining on the schedule for the Owls, with three games against losing teams. While they looked good against USF, the big test is whether this team can build on the victory, particularly when they face some of the tougher defenses in the Big East. They must beat the Huskies this weekend to improve their chances. If not, it will be an uphill climb to win four of their final six games.

Team: Syracuse (2-3)

Wins needed to go bowling: four.

Games remaining: at Rutgers, UConn, at USF, at Cincinnati, Louisville, at Missouri, at Temple.

Projected path: The Orange are going to need to pull a few upsets if they want to get back to a bowl game. UConn, USF and Temple are the most winnable games remaining. This team has shown flashes on offense, and had a great defensive performance last week. If they can get consistency and limit the mistakes, they may be able to surprise somebody.

Team: UConn (3-3)

Wins needed to go bowling: three.

Games remaining: Temple, at Syracuse, at USF, Pitt, at Louisville, Cincinnati.

Projected path: Coach Paul Pasqualoni has yet to win consecutive games with the Huskies, but he is going to have to in order to boost his team's bowl chances. The next four games are absolutely critical to that end, as the Huskies are perfectly capable of beating Temple, Syracuse, USF and Pitt.

Team: Pitt (2-3)

Wins needed to go bowling: four.

Games remaining: Louisville, at Buffalo, Temple, at Notre Dame, at UConn, Rutgers, at USF.

Projected path: I have no idea which Pitt team is going to show up from week to week, and I bet you all have the same problem, too. When the Panthers protect up front and open up holes for the running game, they are a good team. But that remains a big "if." They had opportunities to beat Syracuse last week but failed at critical moments. Buffalo, Temple, UConn and USF are the most winnable games remaining. That would get them to six.

Team: USF (2-4)

Wins needed to go bowling: four.

Games remaining: at Louisville, Syracuse, UConn, at Miami, at Cincinnati, Pitt.

Projected path: The Bulls are on a four-game losing streak and have not inspired much confidence that they can get back to a bowl game. Syracuse, UConn and Pitt are the most winnable games remaining. The bigger question is whether this team can get out of its own way to surprise somebody. There is clearly talent on this team -- are their heads still in the game for a respectable finish?
