It's game day (and 'GameDay') for Irish

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Greetings from a wet Notre Dame Stadium, where the rain just seems to keep coming down harder by the minute. Irish specialists have just started taking the field to warm up for a bit, but the field and stands have been sparse so far (and who could blame them.)

"College GameDay," as you could imagine, was a hit, especially with Lee Corso's animated pick of Notre Dame. The whole crew picked the Irish, and that seems to be the overwhelming sentiment, as Gene Wojciechowski and I picked them as well. Whether or not this weather plays to one team's advantage remains to be seen, but I'd imagine these teams enjoy the muck, as neither has exactly been lighting it up through the air so far.

(Hey, as long as there aren't any three-hour delays, I'm a happy camper.)

We're about an hour from kickoff right now, and Geno and I will be chatting on Cover It Live in the blog throughout the contest. Pac-12 blogger Kevin Gemmell hosts the event, with Geno in the first and third quarters and me in the third and fourth. You can also follow Geno and me on Twitter throughout the contest for in-game updates.

As always, any breaking news or developments will be posted here in the blog immediately, along with postgame coverage.

Should be a good one. Enjoy.
