Brian Kelly will leave his political background at the door, thank you very much.
His undefeated Notre Dame team rose to No. 3 in Sunday night's BCS standings, but Kelly won't be going door to door to plead his case for the Irish should they win out.
"I think I'll leave that up to the professionals," Kelly joked Sunday night on 'BCS Countdown.' "We'll just work on practice and football. That's a lot more comfortable for me."
Will he get uncomfortable if Alabama, Kansas State and Oregon keep winning? Tough to say.
The Irish are actually tied with the No. 2 Wildcats for the top computer ranking, with Oregon, fifth in the computers, at No. 4 in the BCS standings.
The Crimson Tide are No. 1 overall.
Notre Dame's overall BCS average is .9147, barely above the Ducks' .9136.
Three of Oregon's next four games are against teams currently in the BCS top-17 — at No. 17 USC, vs. No. 14 Stanford and at No. 11 Oregon State. If they win out, the Ducks would also play in the Pac-12 title game, another chance for them to boost their résumé.
The Irish's next three opponents -- Pitt, at Boston College, Wake Forest -- are a combined 10-14 and will do little to boost their résumé before their Nov. 24 finale at USC.
