Another 4-0 week for AA, while UConn tripped up Tuna last week in our Big East predictions. Let's see whether we can both go unbeaten this week.
AA season record: 39-13.
Pitt (4-5, 1-3) at UConn (3-6, 0-4), 8 p.m., ESPN2/WatchESPN. #PITTvsUCONN. I was this close to calling for an upset because I think the Panthers are in store for a letdown game. They played their hearts out against No. 3 Notre Dame last week only to lose in triple overtime, and quarterback Tino Sunseri has taken some heat for comments he made after the game, creating further distraction. But then I remembered something. UConn has not scored a second-half touchdown since SEPTEMBER. The Huskies couldn't even get into the end zone last week against a USF defense that has seemed to let teams score at will, especially in the fourth quarter. So, yeah. Pitt wins. Barely. Pitt 17, UConn 12.
Matt's pick: Pitt 17, UConn 7
Cincinnati (6-2, 2-1) at Temple (3-5, 2-3), noon, Big East Network/ESPN3. #CINCYvsTEMPLE. The Bearcats probably will play three quarterbacks in this game, so it may not matter who ends up starting between Brendon Kay and Munchie Legaux. Temple must be prepared for the Bearcats to do most of their damage on the ground -- only twice this season has Cincinnati had more passing yards and rushing yards. George Winn has been on a tear, and the Temple defense is young up front. Advantage: Bearcats. Cincinnati 30, Temple 17.
Matt's pick: Cincinnati 21, Temple 10
No. 9 Louisville (9-0, 4-0) at Syracuse (4-5, 3-2), noon, ABC/ESPN3. #ULvsCUSE. I think this is the first true upset alert of the season for the Cardinals. Syracuse plays much better at home than it does on the road and is fully capable of winning this game. But there is no telling whether the Orange can stay out of their own way. The turnover/penalty bug killed 'em last week against Cincinnati, and Syracuse continues to rank last in the Big East in penalties and No. 6 in turnover margin. I think Ryan Nassib can make some plays on this defense. But Teddy Bridgewater will make a few more plays, and Louisville will escape. I see Matt agrees. Louisville 31, Syracuse 28.
Matt's pick: Louisville 38, Syracuse 35.
Army (2-7) vs. No. 23 Rutgers (7-1), noon, ESPNU/WatchESPN. #ARMYvsRUTG. Rutgers returns from its bye week with another nonconference game. I am pretty sure Army will have the Scarlet Knights' attention because: 1. Rutgers lost its last nonconference game; and 2. Army looked impressive in a 41-21 win over Air Force last week. This one is your classic matchup between the No. 1 rush offense in the nation versus the No. 4 rush defense in the nation, but I am going to be more eager to see how Gary Nova responds after throwing six interceptions last time out. Will Rutgers go even more conservative and just rely on ball control to keep Army off the field? The Scarlet Knights have too many playmakers on defense and a good enough running game to win their ninth straight in the series. Rutgers 23, Army 10.
Matt's pick: Rutgers 27, Army 13
