SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame completed its first perfect home slate in 14 years Saturday, routing Wake Forest, 38-0. Here's how it went down.

It was over when: The ball was kicked off? Notre Dame scored on its first three drives, jumping to a 21-0 lead and never looking back. Considering the Irish had not scored more than 20 in regulation in a home contest this season, that was more than enough.

Game ball goes to: Everett Golson got to rest much of the second half after his strongest home performance to date. The redshirt freshman completed 20 of 30 passes for 346 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

Stat of the game: Notre Dame outgained Wake Forest 584-209. That'll do it in football.

What it means: The task remains the same for Notre Dame: Win at USC next week, then hope either Kansas State or Oregon loses. Next week's contest looks like a considerably easier task after the Trojans fell Saturday to UCLA, though the Irish did pass the eye test at home Saturday, for once.
