Forget having your jersey retired. If you really want prove your legacy to kids today, get yourself on the cover of a video game.
The video-game company is announcing its finalists one by one, and Robinson was the first player revealed, followed yesterday by Simon. The others announced so far are Alabama's Eddie Lacy and Georgia's Jarvis Jones. Players from Florida State, Oregon, Texas A&M and Notre Dame will be announced in the coming days.
You can vote for which athlete you'd like to see on the cover at EA Sports' Facebook page. Voting for players begins Monday and the four semifinalists will be revealed Feb. 18.
Both Robinson and Simon could benefit from their large, active fan bases, though Robinson has more name recognition among general college football fans than Simon does. There's no worry about a Madden cover jinx with this game. Of course, there is the little matter of this lawsuit which could bring the whole operation crashing down.
But for now, it's a pretty fun way to support your favorite team.
