Well, it was not meant to be for USF and top dual-threat quarterback Asiantii Woulard.

Woulard, the on-again, off-again Bulls commitment, announced on signing day he would play at UCLA . Though Woulard had decommitted from USF when Skip Holtz was fired, he still had the Bulls among the teams he was considering.

Ultimately, he decided to leave the East Coast to head west. USF lost out on one other big prospect on signing day -- top Tampa tight end Travis Johnson went to Cincinnati and did not really have any flashy announcements.

But given the fact that new coach Willie Taggart only had a few months to recruit, this is a solid class:
  • He was able to hold on to a commitment from defensive back Lamar Robbins, who got a late push from Louisville.
  • The Bulls flipped one commit Wednesday from Cincinnati, getting running back Darius Tice out of Miami Northwestern High. Taggart also brought in defensive tackle Derrick Calloway, who was an earlier Louisville commitment.
  • USF has brought in two four-star players -- including ESPN 150 defensive end Eric Mayes.

Taggart vowed to fence in the Tampa Bay area. Though Johnson got away, 10 of the 23 players signed are from the Tampa Bay area. Of the 21 players coming in from high school, 18 are from the state of Florida.
