When you're Alabama, you can pretty much hire whomever you want, and this offseason, coach Nick Saban seems to have a particular interest in former ACC coaches.
First it was former Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, who was hired as Alabama's director of player personnel. Then Saban hired Miami's Mario Cristobal as his offensive line coach, and most recently, Alabama has hired former FSU assistant Billy Napier to coach the wide receivers.
Cristobal and Napier barely had time to unpack their ACC offices before they were lured to Alabama. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Napier left just 22 days after signing his contract at FSU.
Jimbo Fisher hired Napier at FSU as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator in mid-January. About a week earlier, Miami had hired Cristobal as associate head coach. Both were terrific hires at their respective schools, but apparently neither can compete with what Alabama has to offer. And now, thanks to the hires of these former ACC coaches, Alabama somehow found a way to get even better.
