Longhorns' margin of victory deceiving

Mack Brown probably isn't too happy as he leaves Darrell K. Royal/Texas Memorial Stadium tonight.

Sure, the Longhorns claimed a 38-14 victory over Colorado, giving them their fifth-straight victory and keeping them in the role of the Big 12's favorite.

But looking closely, there were a couple of trends that didn't make Brown happy.

First, the Texas ground game disappeared against a Colorado defense ranked 111th nationally. The Longhorns produced 45 yards on 25 carries with only one double-digit gain.

The Longhorns turned the game around by scoring on a blocked punt, a 92-yard interception return by Earl Thomas and a 74-yard punt return by Jordan Shipley.

It was the kind of game that a fantasy football player would have loved.

For Brown, I'm not quite so sure.

Trust me, the Longhorns have a lot to work on between now and next week at the Cotton Bowl.
