ACC bowl predictions: Week 11
By Heather Dinich
The ACC has nine guaranteed bowl tie-ins, and so far, six teams are bowl eligible -- Clemson, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Miami. It’s no coincidence the majority of those teams are from the stronger Coastal Division. I predict this week that the conference will finish with seven bowl eligible teams, with Florida State the last to sneak in.
With each of their respective losses this past weekend, Wake Forest, NC State, Maryland and Virginia all lost their chances at a possible bowl bid. Florida State kept its hopes alive with a win over Wake Forest, and the Seminoles only need to beat Maryland at home this weekend to reach the postseason. Despite Duke’s loss to Georgia Tech, the Blue Devils could still reach bowl eligibility with a win at Miami on Saturday and at home during the regular season finale against Wake Forest.
Here are the latest bowl projections for the ACC, and yes, these picks factor in an upset in the ACC title game:
FedEx Orange Bowl: Clemson vs. BCS at large
Chick-fil-A Bowl: Virginia Tech vs. SEC
Gator Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Big East or Notre Dame
Champs Sports Bowl: Miami vs. Big Ten
Music City Bowl: North Carolina vs. SEC
Meineke Car Care Bowl: Florida State vs. Big East
Emerald Bowl: Boston College vs. Pac-10
EagleBank Bowl: N/A
GMAC Bowl: N/A
