Tate breaks Irish records
By Brian Bennett
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame has a new single-season receiving champion.
Golden Tate broke two records on a 39-yard first-quarter catch. That gave him 79 catches and 1,253 yards on the season, both of which broke Jeff Samardzija's records. Tate is still going in this game and has another regular-season game left as well. He could put up some silly numbers.
So far, this has been all Notre Dame. UConn has had three drives that each ended in punts. The Irish have put good pressure on quarterback Zach Frazer. It's been a disappointing showing for the Huskies, who had a bye week to prepare for this game but look totally outschemed.
