Central Michigan narrows search to three
By Graham Watson
Central Michigan has narrowed its coaching search to three, according to the Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun.
CMU offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian, Michigan State running backs coach Dan Enos, and Illinois defensive backs coach Curt Mallory are finalists for the head-coaching job. The Detroit News is reporting that Bajakian is the front-runner to replace Butch Jones, who left last month to become the head coach at Cincinnati.
The Morning Sun reports that a decision on the new head coach could come as early as today, and that a news conference would be held Tuesday.
Central Michigan athletic director Dave Heeke must discuss his final decision with the university president before a hire can be made.
The paper also reported that part of the interview process included talking about contract terms and salaries, so that that process could move quickly once a hire is made. The school would like to have the coach working and recruiting this week.
