Halftime: Maryland 17, NC State 14
By Heather Dinich
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- NC State's chances at winning the Atlantic Division took a hit in the first half. Here's a quick recap:
Turning point: Maryland had just missed a field goal and NC State seemed to have the momentum, but that quickly changed in the second quarter when quarterback Russell Wilson threw a costly interception. Eric Franklin got the pick and returned it 27 yards to the NC State 3-yard line. Maryland tied the game at 14 on the following possession.
Best player of the half: Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien. He's the rookie of the two quarterbacks, but he's also made fewer mistakes and kept the Terps in this game. O'Brien has completed 20 of 30 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown.
Stat of the half: The teams have combined for 24 yards rushing. NC State has 39 (Wilson has 25 of them), and Maryland has minus-15. Both quarterbacks have been sacked twice. Davin Meggett is Maryland's leading rusher with six yards.
