Torrey Smith does it again

By Heather Dinich

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland has no running game and it doesn't need one. Not in this game. Not with Torrey Smith. It took one play, 10 seconds and 71 yards for Smith and the Terps to put this game out of reach and officially suck the life out of NC State. Smith's 71-yard touchdown reception put the Terps up 38-17. He got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after he dunked the ball over the goal post, but after the day he's had here, it's hard to blame him for a little celebration.

Smith's four touchdown receptions here today are a school record. He has 13 catches for 216 yards and four touchdowns. He's the reason it doesn't matter that Maryland has minus-12 rushing yards in this game and still leads 38-17. Smith is Maryland's offense in this game, and NC State hasn't been able to stop him or pressure quarterback Danny O'Brien into missing his target.
