Kouandjio ends suspense, signs with Tide

By Chris Low

On second thought, and after several days of indecision, the country's top offensive tackle prospect has decided he will play his college football at Alabama.

Cyrus Kouandjio had held the state of Alabama hostage ever since announcing on ESPNU on national signing day that he would sign with Auburn, but then second-guessing that decision and never sending his signed scholarship papers to Auburn.

Kouandjio has a brother, Arie, who redshirted at Alabama this past season.

Alabama confirmed Saturday night that it had received Cyrus Kouandjio's signed letter-of-intent, bringing the Crimson Tide's 2011 signing class to 24 players.

Even before landing Kouandjio, Alabama's class was ranked No. 2 nationally by ESPN. The 6-7, 325-pound Kouandjio is ranked as the No. 3 player overall nationally by ESPN. He's the 11th ESPNU 150 selection to sign with the Crimson Tide in the 2011 class, which is more than any other SEC school.
