Fletcher Cox to start for Mississippi State
By Edward Aschoff
AUBURN, Ala. -- Greetings from The Plains!
Big news for Mississippi State as junior defensive tackle Fletcher Cox is set to start today against Auburn after serving a one-game suspension last week.
This certainly isn't good news for the Tigers, who registered just 78 yards on the ground last week against Utah State. Cox is a beast in the middle and will clog running holes and put a ton of pressure on that Auburn backfield. Auburn quarterback Barrett Trotter will probably get tired of Cox quickly in this one.
Without Cox in the lineup, the Bulldogs gave up 164 yards on the ground to Memphis last week, yet still blew those Tigers out of their own stadium.
Auburn coach Gene Chizik said this week that in order to beat the Bulldogs, his Tigers would have to match their physicality on the field. Having Cox in there certainly gives Mississippi State an advantage in that department.
But this is SEC play and the Auburn faithful are pumped up down there in the stands. What a great way to start SEC play!
