Badgers' defense responds in blowout
By Adam Rittenberg
It's all over in Madison, and the Wisconsin Badgers continue to look like the class of the Big Ten.
Wisconsin 35, Oregon State 0: Sure, Oregon State's offense was shorthanded and short on confidence, but Wisconsin's defense really needed this. After the Badgers put on an offensive show in the opener, the defense heard why they could be the difference between a good season and a great one because of a poor tackling performance. Defensive tackle Patrick Butrym sounded ticked off when I talked to him this week. Today Butrym and his fellow defenders responded, shutting out Oregon State and holding the Beavers to just 21 rushing yards on 24 attempts. Wisconsin once again received brilliant quarterback play from Russell Wilson (17-for-21 passing, 189 yards, 3 TDs), and running back Montee Ball finished well with 118 rush yards and two touchdowns.
