Final: WVU 55, Bowling Green 10
By Andrea Adelson
West Virginia unleashed Dustin Garrison and its running game on Bowling Green, cruising to a 55-10 win.
Garrison finished with 291 yards rushing and two touchdowns, after gaining 233 yards in the first half. Shawne Alston and Vernard Roberts got opportunities in the second half for the Mountaineers, who racked up 643 yards of offense, 30 first downs and had 79 plays in the game.
West Virginia put the game out of reach in the first half, turning Bowling Green mistakes into 17 points. Bowling Green ended with five turnovers to zero for West Virginia. Geno Smith went 18-of-30 for 238 yards with three touchdowns. He gave way to backup Paul Millard, who went 1-of-3 for 45 yards in mop-up duty. Stedman Bailey ended up with his third straight 100-yard game, with four receptions for 112 yards.
It was nice to see the Mountaineers get their run game going after struggling in this department. West Virginia ended up with 360 yards rushing -- more than it had in the first four games combined. It was also nice to see no letdown from last week's disappointing loss to LSU. Bowling Green took a quick 10-3 lead, but there would be no more of that.
