SEC bowl projections: Week 5
By Edward Aschoff and Chris Low
We're taking another shot at predicting the future and seeing who ends up where this postseason.
Is there a way for Alabama and LSU to meet again in the national championship? We need to talk to the people in charge to see if we can arrange that.
The bowl picture really isn't clear this early in the season, but we've done some shuffling in our projections this week. Florida's loss to Alabama and an injury to quarterback John Brantley has us wondering what Florida team we'll see for the rest of the season. If he has to, can freshman Jeff Driskel successfully take over this offense?
And what happened to South Carolina? The offense is a complete mess and that loss to Auburn Saturday could come back to haunt the Gamecocks later this season. Something has to change on offense or the Gamecocks could hit a major slide.
With new questions surrounding Florida and South Carolina, Georgia is sitting pretty after that 0-2 start. The Bulldogs are very much in it for the East, and next week's game against Tennessee will mean a lot going forward. Watch out for Tennessee and that offense as well. The Vols aren't going to just sit back and watch this be a three-team race.
Here is what we came up with this week in our bowl projections:
Allstate BCS National Championship Game, Jan. 9: Alabama
Allstate Sugar Bowl, Jan. 3: LSU
Capital One Bowl: Jan. 2: Arkansas
AT&T Cotton Bowl, Jan. 6: South Carolina
Outback Bowl, Jan. 2: Georgia
Gator Bowl, Jan. 2: Florida
Chick-fil-A Bowl, Dec. 31: Tennessee
Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, Dec. 30: Auburn
AutoZone Liberty Bowl, Dec. 31: Mississippi State
BBVA Compass Bowl, Jan. 7: Vanderbilt
