Alabama reels in No. 1 class
By Chris Low
Alabama put the finishing touches on its second national championship in the last three seasons less than a month ago.
On Wednesday, the Crimson Tide announced a star-studded signing class that just about everybody is ranking as the top class in the country.
Of the 26 signees announced by Alabama, 13 are ESPNU 150 prospects. Also, eight players are already enrolled in school and will go through spring practice. Included in that group are junior college cornerbacks Travell Dixon and Deion Belue and two of the top 10-ranked receivers in the country by ESPN -- Amari Cooper and Chris Black.
There was very little drama for the Crimson Tide on signing day. Their top-rated signee, safety Landon Collins of Geismar, La., faxed in his letter-of-intent later in the afternoon. Collins is the No. 6 prospect overall on the ESPNU 150 list.
You can view Alabama's entire signing class here, and coach Nick Saban will conduct his news conference at 5 p.m. here.
