Wisconsin's Jared Abbrederis leaves game
By Brian Bennett
The list Big Ten's walking wounded stars keeps growing.
Wisconsin receiver Jared Abbrederis was taken to a local hospital in Corvallis after taking a big hit late in the first half at Oregon State. Team officials described it as a chest injury and said Abbrederis was being evaluated. He will not play in the second half of the game, which Oregon State led 3-0 at halftime.
Abbrederis is the lone true star among Big Ten receivers, and there's no clear No. 2 choice at the position. Wisconsin's offense has struggled mightily so far today, and this won't help any. Abbrederis is also one of the nation's best return men.
This young season has already seen such big names as Nebraska's Rex Burkhead, Michigan's Blake Countess, Penn State's Bill Belton, Illinois' Nathan Scheelhaase and Indiana's Tre Roberson miss time with injuries, among others.
