Posted by ESPN.com’s Graham Watson
Houston (2-0) has been named the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week following its 45-35 win over No. 5 Oklahoma State last weekend.
The Cougars jumped out to a 24-7 halftime lead before the Cowboys rallied to take a 35-31 lead in the fourth quarter. With 6:42 remaining, quarterback Case Keenum hit Bryce Beall who hauled in a tipped pass on fourth down to give Houston the go-ahead score. Jamal Robinson returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown with 3:14 remaining to seal the win.
Keenum threw for 366 yards and three touchdowns as the Cougars earned their first win over a top 5 team since Nov. 10, 1984.
Central Michigan, which upset Michigan State, SMU, which defeated UAB to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 1996, and Louisiana-Lafayette, which upset Kansas State, also were considered for the award.
