ACC pregame notes
Posted by ESPN.com's Heather Dinich
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- There are no unexpected lineup changes today from Boston College, but with defensive tackle Austin Giles out with a back injury, sophomore Kaleb Ramsey will get the start. Defensive end Alex Albright, who was listed as probable with an ankle injury, should also start. Virginia Tech doesn't announce any lineup changes until game time.
I'm eager to finally see Boston College quarterback Dave Shinskie play. He's thrown for 439 yards, five touchdowns and an interception in their past two wins over Wake Forest and Florida State. Not bad for a guy who hadn't thrown a football in six years until this season. Frank Spaziani said Shinskie still has a ways to go yet, though, and Virginia Tech's defense will be the best the Eagles have faced so far.
As for Tyrod Taylor, I'd be surprised if he put up another 300-yard passing game against the Eagles. Defense is Spaziani's forte, and that hasn't changed in the former defensive coordinator's first season as head coach. Yes, the Hokies' passing game has shown improvement, but this will be a better gauge as to just how much.
