Louisville calls on famous fan for pub

By Andrea Adelson

The latest round of expansion has given the ACC a pretty clear win. Trading Maryland for Louisville?

No-brainer, really.

Better football. Better basketball. More profitable athletic department.

But forget all that.

Bigger still?

Jennifer Lawrence
"The next chapter of Louisville athletics is upon us as we join the prestigious ACC and prepare to face some of history's most accomplished and elite collegiate programs," actress Jennifer Lawrence says in a promotional video.
Best famous fan.

Louisville has turned up the hype machine for its official move to the ACC on Tuesday, for good reason. It is movin' on up in the world after years of watching other programs move on to better conference homes.

Now, its time has come. A mega celebration is in order. And who better to start the party than a mega star?

Louisville native Jennifer Lawrence narrated a one minute video on the website the school set up specifically for its conference move. The Oscar winner sets up the switch to the ACC, interspersed with clips from various Louisville teams.

She closes quite simply.

"Let's do this."

Maryland, who you got to counter? Connie Chung? Giuliana Rancic?

Lawrence is not an alum, but has made no secret of her love for the Cards. Back in March, she tweeted out a photo of her wearing a Louisville shirt, holding up the "L" before the start of the NCAA tournament. Her family still lives in Louisville and is connected to the school's athletic department. So the school was able to reach out to her about narrating the video. She agreed without hesitation.

No surprise there. Despite leaving the city at age 14 to pursue her acting career, Lawrence has spoken many times about how much she still loves her hometown. Last November, she told WPFL in Louisville, "The only thing I’ll ever identify with as home is Louisville."

Earlier this month, she and her brother, Ben, organized a block party to help raise money for a local family struggling to pay medical bills for their daughter fighting leukemia. Lawrence herself donated a trip to Belize, along with signed memorabilia, as part of an auction to help the family.

Hard to get much better than that.
