College Football Nation: 2010-final-all-conference
We tried to emphasize consistent production this year on our All-Pac-10 team, not just NFL prospects. That's why some big names are missing.
For comparison, here is the coaches team, which was announced Tuesday.
We didn't include a tight end because receiver was a far deeper position. And, unlike the coaches, we didn't make a wishbone backfield just to accomodate Stanford's Owen Marecic. Instead, we made up a specialist position for a guy who starts at both fullback and linebacker: "STUD."
So here you go.
Offense
QB Andrew Luck, So., Stanford
RB LaMichael James, So., Oregon
RB Jacquizz Rodgers, Jr., Oregon State
WR Juron Criner, Jr., Arizona
WR Jeff Maehl, Sr., Oregon
WR Jermaine Kearse, Jr., Washington
OL Chase Beeler, Sr., Stanford
OL Colin Baxter, Sr., Arizona

Everybody puts out an All-SEC team -- the media, coaches, different publications.
Well, we like to consider the ESPN.com All-SEC team the people’s team.
It’s not a popularity contest or a list of the top NFL prospects. We’re not into career achievement awards and don’t leave off deserving players just to include somebody from all 12 teams.
Our goal in picking this team is to honor the best players in the SEC this season with a heavy emphasis placed on how they fared against league competition.
There were a lot of tough choices. Picking just two receivers was impossible. Thank goodness we had an all-purpose player -- the perfect spot for Randall Cobb. But leaving off guys like A.J. Green, Joe Adams, Darvin Adams, Denarius Moore and Chris Matthews was difficult to do.
The same goes for linebacker, where the league’s leading tackler, Kentucky’s Danny Trevathan, didn’t make it. The secondary was equally hard to pick. Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins deserves to be there, but there were only so many spots.
There are only two repeat selections from last year's ESPN.com All-SEC team -- LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson and Cobb.
Here's a look at the entire 2010 team:

This is usually one of the most difficult posts of the season, but for some reason, this year there seemed to be more separation between the good players and the great ones in the ACC.
Honestly, the biggest internal debate was over the kicker, a battle between Virginia Tech’s Chris Hazley and Duke’s Will Snyderwine. The coaches voted Snyderwine an All-America selection, and that was hard to ignore, as was the fact that he is the master of the onside kick, and hit four that Duke retained. Duke isn’t the most athletic team, but because of Snyderwine’s ability to put the ball in a 3-yard square, the Blue Devils were right there with everyone else in kickoff coverage (No. 3 behind division champs Florida State and Virginia Tech). The frustrating part of compiling this team is that there is always a deserving player left off -- always. There’s no question, though, that everyone on this year’s ESPN.com All-ACC team deserves it.

ESPN.com Non-AQ all-conference team

Coming up with the all non-AQ team is never easy, because there are so many good players across all five conferences, Army and Navy. Unfortunately, many talented players get left off this list because there isn't room for everybody.
I tried to pick the players who had the most outstanding seasons at their respective positions. The toughest positions for me to pick were defensive line, receiver and linebacker, where I had 10 worthy candidates to whittle down.
It was also tough selecting a quarterback, so I went with two: Heisman Trophy finalist Kellen Moore of Boise State and record-setting Colin Kaepernick of Nevada. Both had incredible seasons worthy of recognition. My lone Sun Belt selection had the best player in the conference -- Western Kentucky running back Bobby Rainey, who ran for 1,649 yards on an astounding 340 carries, with 15 touchdowns.
My lone MAC selection was KR Eric Page, who led the nation with three kickoff returns for touchdowns.
Here is the complete list. Feel free to debate in the comments section.
