NCF Nation: Jared McAdoo

North Carolina defensive lineman Jared McAdoo has been dismissed from the program for violating team rules, the school announced on Monday. McAdoo played in 12 games as a redshirt freshman in 2010, and likely would have been a solid backup for the Tar Heels this fall. He played more defensive end last year, but was expected to contribute more at his natural position, defensive tackle, this fall. He likely would have been the fifth or sixth lineman in the rotation.

McAdoo's dismissal will have the biggest impact of several other roster changes that were also announced. Defensive back Brendon Felder will transfer because of family issues. He redshirted last year.

"Brendon's family is going through some tough times," coach Butch Davis said in a prepared statement. "His grandmother is sick and he wanted to be closer to the family for support. I wish nothing but the best for Brendon and his family as they deal with this situation."

Linebacker Herman Davidson also will transfer this fall. Davidson played primarily in a reserve role at linebacker in 13 games last year and likely would have had a similar role this season. Linebacker Shane Mularkey has decided to quit football. Mularkey, who was mainly a contributor on special teams, played in the first two games last year before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina running back Shaun Draughn was running around during warm-ups catching passes and taking hand-offs, despite a nagging ankle injury. He didn't look in pain, but that doesn't mean he's not. He went over to Anthony Elzy, who is expected to start, and gave him an encouraging shake on the shoulder pads.

There are no lineup changes for Virginia Tech. For UNC, backup defensive tackle Jared McAdoo will get his first career start at left defensive end, and freshman Jabari Price will start over Mywan Jackson at corner.
