Here's a look at the Big 12's top performers from Week 13:
RB Joe Mixon, Oklahoma: The Sooners’ thunder-and-lightning duo did it again. Samaje Perine was excellent (131 yards, two TDs), but Mixon gets the honor for being unstoppable against Oklahoma State. He had the highlight of the night on his very first carry by spinning out of a tackle behind the line of scrimmage, turning around and dashing off for a 66-yard touchdown. He finished with 136 rushing yards and two scores on a healthy 9.7 yards per carry.
LB Ty Summers, TCU: On an ugly night for weather and for offense, Summers was the hero. The redshirt freshman linebacker racked up 23 tackles, the most ever by a TCU defender under Gary Patterson, but his last one was worth a whole lot more. Summers got the game-winning stop of Baylor running back Devin Chafin on fourth-and-1 to pull off the 28-21 double-overtime victory over the rival Bears. Not bad for a guy with only four career starts.
CB Jordan Thomas, Oklahoma: Bad things happened when Oklahoma State threw his way. Thomas helped get the 58-23 blowout rolling with a 32-yard pick-six in the second quarter to end Mason Rudolph’s only drive of the night, then nabbed another interception off J.W. Walsh two drives later. Thomas returned that one 36 yards to set up a field goal. That’s five INTs for the sophomore on the year.
WR Jakeem Grant, Texas Tech: On the night he became Texas Tech’s all-time leading receiver, Grant put on a show in a 48-45 Thanksgiving win over Texas. He racked up 207 all-purpose yards, including a miraculous 65-yard touchdown catch and a ridiculous 40-yard TD run on a trick play to seal the win.
