AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — It’s the middle of the offseason for football coaches, and Jimbo Fisher arrived at the ACC meetings this week looking the part.
Sporting a beard he’s been growing since the NFL draft, Fisher joked he’s been enjoying all the time he’s saved by not shaving each morning.
“I hate shaving,” he joked, noting that it also helps him keep a low profile among crowds that might otherwise recognize him.
The beard still managed to grab plenty of attention during the league’s meetings — a nice diversion from hot topics of the last few years for Fisher, including star-crossed quarterback Jameis Winston and last year’s big-name transfer, Everett Golson. (Though, Fisher did get questions on dismissed running back Mario Pender, but declined comment.)
And while the beard hardly qualifies as hard news, it’s gotten plenty of love from Florida State fans, including a few who managed to incorporate some quintessential Jimbo-isms into the discussion.
@DavidHaleESPN he'll grow it not until he gets it right but until he can't get it wrong
