Central Michigan adds two more

The Chippewas have gained commitments No. 16 and 17 with the additions of Derek Edwards (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) and Mark Chapman (Port Huron, Mich.), multiple sources report.

Edwards is rated as a three-star offensive guard by ESPN. Arizona, Toledo and Western Michigan also offered the 6-foot-5, 270-pound prospect while Cincinnati, Michigan State and Syracuse showed interest.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Chapman picked the Chippewas over scholarship offers from Bowling Green and Toledo. Minnesota, Syracuse and Ball State were the other programs recruiting Chapman, who posted an electronically-timed 4.64 40-yard dash, 4.22 20-yard shuttle, 31.6-inch vertical and 86.16 SPARQ on the Nike Combine circuit this spring.
