The Golden Eagles recently picked up commitments from two defensive linemen, a junior college offensive lineman, and a tight end, according to multiple sources.
On Monday, 6-foot-6, 230-pound defensive end Ade Aruna (Birmingham, Ala./Central Park Christian) announced for Southern Miss. Aruna is originally from Nigeria and has never played a down of football but displayed impressive athleticism at various camps this spring. Auburn, Kentucky, Mississippi State and UAB were among the other programs after Aruna.
6-foot-3, 250-pound tight end Draper Riley (Harvey, La./West Jefferson) also pulled the trigger Monday. McNeese State and Memphis offered and Louisiana-Monroe showed interest.
Joining Riley up front for the Golden Eagles will be Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College offensive tackle Aaron Reed. Southern Illinois and Western Illinois also offered the 6-foot-5, 313-pounder.
6-foot-6, 265-pound Jonathan Wilson (Tylertown, Miss.), another DE, is also on board. Southern Miss has secured five defensive linemen during this recruiting cycle.
