The Dawgs are really beefing up their inside linebacker unit with the addition of Tim Kimbrough (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central), who joins fellow ESPN 300 middle backers Johnny O’Neal (Dublin, Ga./West Laurens) and Ryne Rankin (Orlando, Fla./East River).
Like O’Neal and Rankin, Kimbrough brings great size and strength to the position. He is quick to read and react and fill downhill, and very seldom is beat physically at the point of attack. He's a wrap-up tackler and strong overall inside presence who can help stop the run.
Out of the three top-15 rated inside linebackers headed to Athens, Kimbrough might need the most polish in regard to coverage skills, but he has range and is a disruptive blitzer who Todd Grantham will utilize in his aggressive 3-4 scheme. Georgia technically has four inside linebackers committed for 2013 with three-star Reginald Carter (Snellville, Ga./South Gwinnett) on board as well. It was a position of need after not signing one in 2012, and despite the fact that two are on the field at the same time, its still unlikely all four will remain inside for the Dawgs throughout their careers.
