Rising junior signal-caller Kyle Carta-Samuels (San Jose, Calif./Bellermine College Prep) has made an early commitment to play for Vanderbilt, multiple sources report.

Vanderbilt was Carta-Samuels' only scholarship offer at this time but other programs including Alabama, Northwestern, Stanford and Wisconsin showed interest in the 6-foot-2, 207-pound prospect.

His older brother, Austyn Carta-Samuels, transferred to Vanderbilt from Wyoming in 2011. He originally signed with the Cowboys in 2009 as a high two-star quarterback prospect. Austyn was the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year that fall after passing for 1,953 yards and 10 touchdowns in 10 starts. He started all 11 games in 2010 posting similar numbers.

The Commodores now have two players on board for 2014. Defensive lineman Jashon Robertson (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) announced for Vandy in June.
