Senior defensive end Malik Jenkins (Ennis, Texas) has become the latest prospect from the Lone Star State to commit to former Texas Tech and current Washington State head coach Mike Leach, Scout.com reports.
The Cougars topped scholarship offers from Houston, North Texas, Rice and Stephen F. Austin for Jenkins. Arkansas, Illinois and Oklahoma State also showed interest.
An undersized defensive end at 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds, Jenkins has the athleticism necessary for a potential transition to linebacker. He registered an electronically-timed 4.8 40-yard dash, 4.41 20-yard shuttle, 33-inch vertical and 88.56 SPARQ this spring at a Nike Combine.
Washington State has 11 commitments for 2013, including three from Texas.
