Running back Marcus Williams (Las Vegas, Nev./Durango) has become the eighth class of 2013 verbal for Utah, multiple sources report.
Williams did not play much last season following a transfer from Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) and flew under the radar. He burst onto the recruiting scene this spring by posting the highest SPARQ score at the Long Beach Nike Combine.
At the event, he measured in at 5-foot-11, 197 pounds and registered an electronically timed 4.43 40-yard dash, 4.06 20-yard shuttle, 39.4-inch vertical and 128.91 overall SPARQ.
Idaho, New Mexico and New Mexico State, along with the Utes, extended scholarship offers to Williams following his outstanding combine performances.
“Seeing all those Vegas guys have success (at Utah) definitely influenced (my decision),” Williams told the Las Vegas Sun. "I can't believe I'm going to college. I'm so happy everything worked out."
