Four-star talent Ben Hughes (Waco, Texas/University) has ended the recruiting process and committed to Oklahoma State, multiple sources report.
Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Mississippi State and Tulsa also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 310-pound defensive tackle. Other programs including Baylor, Houston, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech showed interest.
ESPN considers Hughes to be the nation's 28th best DT and states in his evaluation, "Hughes is a big and violent prospect in the trenches... He needs to keep developing in areas and his endurance to perform consistently from snap-to-snap might possibly be a concern. But when he is going on all cylinders, he can be trouble."
He is the first verbal for Oklahoma State since July. The Cowboys now have 16 total pledges including six from four-star prospects.
