Marshall lands two on defense

Stefan Houston and Arnold Blackmon have committed to sign as part of the Thundering Herd's 2013 class, according to multiple sources.

Houston's a 6-foot-2, 200-pound outside linebacker from Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy. He originally signed with Maryland in 2012 as a three-star prospect out of Clarksburg (Md.) High School.

At that time, ESPN wrote, "Houston is very productive as a tight end and linebacker; we see the playing speed for either position however his growth potential and athleticism appear best suited for the outside linebacker spot at the major level of competition."

Blackmon, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound defensive end, is headed to Marshall following a stint at Navarro College (Corsicana, Texas). The Bellaire, Texas, native turned down scholarship offers from Kansas State and Old Dominion. He received interest from Grambling State, Houston, Kansas and New Mexico.

Marshall holds 11 pledges for 2013.
