Scouts: Irish gain another OT with upside

Notre Dame garnered a solid score out of Las Vegas on Thursday as they landed a verbal from four-star offensive-line prospect Ronnie Stanley (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman). He is a nice-sized kid, and while he needs to continue to add bulk, he displays a frame that can support more good mass. He displays good foot quickness as well good upper body playing strength.

He is not a road-grader as a blocker but is productive, and if he can add good size as well keep his pads down, he flashes the ability to develop into a dominant run blocker. With a nice reach and nimble feet, he has the tools to be a good pass blocker as well, but again, he displays a tendency to play too tall and needs to play lower.

Stanley is a nice pickup for the Fighting Irish, as he possesses good size and athleticism, but he needs to keep developing his game to allow him to get the most from his abilities. Like current ND commit Mark Harrell (Charlotte, N.C./Catholic), we see a player with ability and upside, but likely not an immediate contributor. Both likely will need some time when they hit South Bend before they can put their tools to work.
